We are a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center serving a population of one million throughout Vermont and Northern New York. The Medical Lab Scientist performs, calculates, reviews and reports laboratory diagnostic tests. This position requires basic laboratory skills, maintenance, QC, and troubleshooting abilities. Understanding of the clinical significance of the testing performed.
The Cytogenetics Technologist performs setup, culturing, processing, staining, and karyotyping of specimens in the Cytogentics laboratory. Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory! equipment. Critically evaluates results and quality control r! esults. Correct basic procedural and/or instrument problems. Responsible for teaching and training.
Education:
Medical Lab Scientist - Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Certified or certificate qualified in the field. If certificate qualified, certification to occur within one year of hire date OR Certified Medical Laboratory Technician with ten years of experience.
Cytogenetics Technologist - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited cytogenetics education program or Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate science field and Cytogenetics or Medical Technologist certification. Specialty certification in Cytogenetics by an appropriate laboratory agency is required. Certification eligible staff must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
